Senior Legal Counsel – Major Projects and Construction (m/w/d)

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential renewable energy organization based in Karlsruhe. This fast-growing company is focused on sustainable resource development and clean technology infrastructure across Europe. We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their in-house legal function and provide strategic support across major construction projects and commercial operations.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with part-time options available (minimum 32 hours per week).

Responsibilities

In this role, you will provide comprehensive legal support across the project lifecycle, from development through construction and operations:

• Draft, review, and negotiate complex project agreements including EPCM, EPC, design and construct, framework agreements, consultancy contracts, and other commercial arrangements
• Advise business stakeholders on contractual rights, obligations, claims prevention, and risk mitigation strategies throughout all project phases
• Support sourcing, tendering, and contracting activities, including commercial negotiations with contractors, suppliers, and strategic partners
• Provide legal guidance on project development matters, including land acquisition, permitting processes, and regulatory approvals
• Collaborate with the supply chain function to develop contracting strategies for operational activities, including maintenance, service, and hire agreements
• Lead the legal management of claims arising from construction, procurement, and commercial contracts
• Assess contractual entitlements, liabilities, and exposure while developing claims strategies with cross-functional teams
• Prepare and review notices, claims submissions, responses, and supporting documentation
• Coordinate external legal counsel and technical experts in litigation, arbitration, adjudication, and settlement negotiations
• Drive contractual consistency across projects and contribute to standard contract development and project governance
• Engage effectively with governmental authorities, landowners, contractors, strategic partners, and other key stakeholders

What We're Looking For

• 5-10 years of post-qualification experience in a leading law firm and/or multinational in-house legal team
• Both German State Examinations completed with at least satisfactory results
• Extensive experience advising on project development, construction law, procurement, and drafting complex commercial contracts
• Track record supporting large-scale projects in renewable energy, industrial, chemicals, utilities, mining, or comparable sectors
• Strong knowledge of project delivery and construction frameworks, including VOB/B and FIDIC
• Familiarity with permitting processes, regulatory requirements, and public law matters
• Demonstrated experience managing contractual claims, disputes, and risk-related matters throughout the project lifecycle
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions
• Strong commercial judgment, pragmatic problem-solving approach, and confidence engaging with senior leadership and project executives
• Highly organized, resilient, and adaptable with integrity and discretion
• Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
