IT-Systemadministrator – Datacenter & Infrastructure (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential renewable energy organization seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator to join their growing technical team in Karlsruhe. Our client operates critical infrastructure supporting sustainable industrial operations across multiple locations. This is a full-time, permanent position offering the opportunity to work with cutting-edge datacenter and network technologies in a rapidly scaling environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and resolve complex IT infrastructure issues independently, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions across systems and locations
• Operate, monitor, and continuously develop network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and site-to-site connectivity
• Administer and optimize core datacenter components such as firewalls, storage systems, backup solutions, switches, and related infrastructure services
• Plan and execute capacity, availability, and lifecycle management measures to ensure infrastructure scales reliably with organizational growth
• Design and implement secure, standardized infrastructure solutions for new sites, expansions, and modernization projects
• Support high-performance specialized workstations in collaboration with IT support teams and business units
• Maintain structured documentation and track changes, problems, and technical tasks using Jira Service Management

What We're Looking For

• Completed IT vocational training (such as Fachinformatiker für Systemintegration), IT degree, or equivalent qualification gained through professional experience
• 5 to 8 years of professional experience in administration and operation of complex IT infrastructures
• Strong knowledge of networking technologies including TCP/IP, VLAN, routing, switching, WLAN, WAN, VPN, DNS, and DHCP
• Solid experience with Windows-based IT infrastructure administration
• Hands-on experience with multiple technologies from the following: firewalls, Microsoft Entra ID, storage systems, backup solutions, and PowerShell
• Experience in cross-system troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and operating secure multi-site infrastructures
• Analytical, solution-oriented, and self-directed working style with structured documentation skills
• Experience with IT service management processes and tools
• Clear professional communication skills and ability to collaborate constructively with internal and external stakeholders
• Willingness to travel occasionally to external sites and datacenter locations as needed
• Excellent German language skills (written and spoken) and good English proficiency
