Senior DevOps Engineer (Platform)

About This Role

We are representing a confidential healthcare technology organization seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer (Platform) to join their infrastructure team on a fully remote basis from Poland. This is a B2B contractor position.

Our client operates a multi-region AWS platform serving clinical and wellness software across Europe, the UK, North America, Australia, and the Middle East. They are ISO 27001:2022 certified and work under the real constraints of healthcare data: data residency, auditability, and minimal tolerance for downtime.

This is a senior, autonomous role with wide scope. You will own the platform that engineering teams ship on—the Kubernetes estate, delivery pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. You will make architectural decisions rather than execute pre-scoped tickets. A significant portion of the work involves migration and consolidation: bringing acquired products onto shared infrastructure, moving workloads between providers and regions, and retiring legacy systems.

Responsibilities

• Run and evolve a multi-region AWS and EKS platform, managed as code in Terraform and deployed through ArgoCD
• Own CI/CD across repositories on CircleCI and GitHub Actions, keeping the path from commit to production fast and reliable
• Lead infrastructure migrations end to end: containerizing applications, moving databases between providers and regions, and managing cutovers with verification and rollback plans
• Manage PostgreSQL and RDS at production scale, including version upgrades, instance sizing, and performance optimization
• Maintain Ruby on Rails runtime environments, including framework upgrades, performance tuning, and autoscaling behavior
• Own cloud cost management: rightsizing, autoscaling, savings plan utilization, and monthly cost reporting to Finance
• Run disaster recovery testing and incident readiness drills, and remediate findings
• Act as the infrastructure point of contact for engineering, security, and commercial colleagues

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• 5+ years in DevOps, platform, or infrastructure engineering with significant AWS experience
• Production Kubernetes experience, ideally EKS, beyond basic deployment tasks
• Strong Terraform skills and an infrastructure as code mindset
• Demonstrated experience running real database migrations or provider cutovers, with the ability to explain verification methods
• Proficiency with Linux, containers, and GitOps workflows
• Solid scripting ability in Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages, with enough application literacy to debug across the stack
• Professional working fluency in English

Nice to Have:

• Ruby on Rails familiarity
• Cost optimization or FinOps experience at scale
• Background in regulated industries: ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA, or GDPR
• Experience with infrastructure consolidation following acquisitions
• Polish language skills

Working Approach:

• On-call participation through PagerDuty with documented playbooks, separately compensated and agreed with you rather than assumed
• Written async updates, fortnightly planning touchpoints, and regular infrastructure and security syncs
• Strong documentation culture: runbooks, decision records, and incident write-ups are part of the work
• Small team, wide scope, minimal process between you and decisions
