Functional Safety Engineer – ADAS

The Opportunity

Valeo is seeking a skilled Functional Safety Engineer to strengthen its ADAS engineering team in Prague. In this full-time role, you'll take ownership of safety-critical systems that protect drivers and passengers, applying rigorous functional safety methodologies to ensure next-generation advanced driver assistance features meet the highest standards of reliability and performance. Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain functional safety requirements for ADAS modules and integrated safety systems
• Conduct hazard analysis, FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), and functional safety assessments aligned with ISO 26262 and ISO 21448 standards
• Design and document safety cases and arguments supporting compliance with automotive safety regulations
• Perform verification and validation (V&V) testing to confirm safety requirements are met across hardware and software components
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software architects, hardware engineers, and systems engineers
• Manage safety documentation and traceability matrices throughout the development lifecycle
• Participate in design reviews and technical audits to identify and mitigate safety risks

Qualifications

• Strong background in functional safety engineering, ideally with automotive experience
• Solid understanding of ISO 26262 (road vehicles, functional safety) and ISO 21448 (safety of the intended functionality)
• Experience with ADAS systems, sensor technologies, or vehicle safety systems is highly valued
• Proficiency in requirements management tools and safety analysis methodologies
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, or equivalent technical discipline
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in safety-critical environments
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Czech is beneficial
