Responsibilities

We are representing a fast-growing digital pharmacy operation in Blackburn, Lancashire. As a Dispenser, you will be central to a high-volume dispensing operation serving patients across the UK.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Accurately selecting, labelling and preparing medicines within your qualified scope, following standard operating procedures and escalating clinical queries to pharmacists
• Processing and securely packing 30+ orders per hour while maintaining accuracy, safety and full regulatory compliance
• Maintaining cold-chain controls, monitoring fridge and room temperatures, and escalating any storage deviations immediately
• Checking incoming deliveries, maintaining correct storage and rotation, and supporting stock takes to ensure medicines are available when needed
• Recording errors, near misses and incidents promptly; maintaining clean and compliant workstations; following hygiene and PPE procedures
• Supporting trainee dispensers, working collaboratively with colleagues, and helping to resolve patient queries and order updates with the customer service team

What We're Looking For

Essential requirements:

• Valid Buttercups certification or equivalent dispensing qualification
• Proven experience in high-volume dispensing environments with demonstrated ability to process 30+ orders per hour without compromising safety
• Exceptional attention to detail in medicine selection, labelling and prescription preparation
• Strong ability to organise workload independently, follow SOPs precisely, and know when to involve a pharmacist
• Reliable, punctual and committed to patient safety and regulatory compliance

Preferred experience:

• At least one year working as a qualified dispenser
• Experience in online pharmacy or remote dispensing environments
• Background in training or mentoring junior colleagues with clear explanation of procedures
• Inventory control and stock rotation experience in busy dispensary settings
• Handling healthcare queries with care, clarity and professionalism
• Familiarity with GPhC requirements and their practical application

This is a full-time, on-site role in Blackburn working standard business hours with possible shift patterns. You will report to a Shift Lead and work closely with pharmacists, fellow dispensers, stock control and customer service teams.
