Data Engineer – AI Coding Expert

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI research organization seeking a Data Engineer with hands-on experience using AI coding agents. This is a remote contract opportunity based in Germany, ideal for engineers who actively work with frontier AI tools and can evaluate complex data infrastructure implementations.

Responsibilities

• Use AI coding agents to complete and evaluate complex data engineering tasks
• Review model-generated implementations involving ETL pipelines, data warehouses, analytics platforms, and distributed data systems
• Identify bugs, edge cases, scalability issues, and failure modes in AI-generated code outputs
• Compare outputs from multiple AI models and assess their relative strengths and weaknesses
• Apply professional engineering judgment to realistic data engineering scenarios

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 2+ years of professional data engineering experience
• Proven experience building ETL pipelines, data warehouses, analytics platforms, or distributed data systems
• Regular, active use of AI coding agents such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Windsurf, Gemini CLI, or similar tools
• Ability to critically evaluate model-generated data infrastructure and pipeline implementations

Preferred:

• Experience operating large-scale data platforms
