Accounting Manager Europe (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential manufacturing organization with international operations seeking an Accounting Manager Europe based in Düsseldorf. In this leadership role, you will:

• Oversee accounting processes for multiple European entities and ensure complete, accurate financial reporting
• Manage the full monthly close cycle including general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and consolidation
• Prepare and analyze profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
• Lead and develop an accounting team, fostering both technical and professional growth
• Continuously improve accounting processes, systems, and structures to increase efficiency
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal policies
• Design and optimize internal controls for financial reporting and accounting
• Analyze variances, financial trends, and key performance indicators, providing actionable recommendations
• Support budget and forecast preparation in close collaboration with management and business units
• Monitor cash flow and budget variances, creating transparency for financial decision-making
• Coordinate external audits and ensure timely delivery of required documentation
• Collaborate closely with international finance teams, management, and cross-functional departments

What We're Looking For

• Completed university degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent qualification
• Several years of professional experience in accounting and finance with demonstrated leadership or supervisory responsibility
• Strong knowledge of HGB; experience with IFRS and international accounting standards highly desirable
• Background from a Big 4 audit firm or similar environment is a strong plus
• Proven experience with monthly closes, financial reporting, consolidation, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
• Track record of optimizing accounting processes and internal control systems
• Leadership capability with the ability to motivate and develop team members
• Structured, detail-oriented, and reliable work style with strong performance under tight deadlines
• Confident communication skills with diverse stakeholders in an international business environment
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and modern ERP/accounting systems
• Experience with Epicor and/or OneStream is advantageous
• Fluency in German and English required

Pay

This position is based in Düsseldorf with an on-site or hybrid work arrangement. Our client has indicated an annual gross salary range of approximately €100,000 to €120,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Final compensation details will be discussed during the interview process.
