Market Research Project Manager

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential recruitment organization seeking a Market Research Project Manager to build and own their research capability from the ground up. This is a remote position based in South Africa.

In this role, you'll take full ownership of research projects—from initial scoping through to delivering decision-ready outputs. You'll also establish the processes, templates, and documentation that will define how this function operates going forward.

Your work will span company intelligence, market analysis, and competitive research, directly informing business decisions and client engagements.

Responsibilities

• Scope research requests, plan your approach, and manage projects from initial question through to polished final brief
• Research and verify information on companies, sectors, and markets across diverse business topics
• Maintain ongoing tracking of relevant industry developments and trends
• Transform raw findings into clear, structured written briefs that translate facts into actionable business insight
• Support competitive intelligence and market research relevant to the firm's core operations
• Maintain organized research files and reference materials for future use
• Handle ad hoc research requests with strong accuracy and efficient turnaround
• Build and refine the research function's workflows, templates, and documentation as the capability matures

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Genuine, hands-on experience in market or business research (backgrounds in competitive intelligence, strategy research, or related analytical fields are valued)
• Demonstrated ability to research and verify information from multiple sources quickly and accurately
• Proven track record producing clean, structured, decision-ready briefs
• Fluency with research databases, company and industry data sources, and standard spreadsheet and office tools
• Strong written English with clear presentation of findings
• Comfort managing multiple research requests and shifting priorities
• Ability to independently scope and structure research work without close supervision

Preferred:

• Familiarity with professional services, recruitment, or consulting environments
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets capability
• Experience preparing slides, summaries, or briefing materials
