Software Architect (AWS, NodeJS) – Remote, Latin America

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential software consultancy with operations across North and South America. They are seeking an experienced Software Architect to join their remote team, working with clients on mission-critical systems that demand precision, scalability, and security. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior-level technologist who wants to shape architecture decisions, mentor engineering teams, and work on challenging projects that directly impact business outcomes.

We are looking for someone based in Mexico who can overlap with US business hours and bring deep expertise in AWS, Node.js, and distributed systems design.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect low-latency service architectures in AWS, making informed decisions about distributed components including queues, caches, and search projections
• Establish and design to explicit latency budgets (p95/p99), including synchronous durable commits in performance-critical paths
• Architect audit and evidence systems with append-only event logs, versioned or bitemporal fact models, and deterministic historical replay capabilities
• Design fail-open, fail-closed, and degraded-state semantics with clear outage postures
• Create secure multi-tenant environments with thorough tradeoff analysis (RLS vs. schema-per-tenant vs. database-per-tenant)
• Build scalable RESTful APIs and architect SDK integrations to external services
• Develop capacity models and cloud cost/performance projections following AWS Well-Architected Framework principles
• Establish technical standards, conduct architecture and code reviews, and mentor engineering teams
• Produce architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical decision records (ADRs)
• Present and defend architecture decisions in client engineering and security reviews

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with 3+ years in an architecture-focused role
• Deep expertise with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB and Row-Level Security (RLS) at data-modeling and architecture levels
• Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Proven experience architecting large, complex systems end-to-end
• Experience working with AI coding assistants as part of daily development workflows
• Ability to overlap US business hours
• Bachelor's degree
• Extreme ownership and accountability for deliverables
• Client-focused dedication with strong problem-solving and technical leadership skills
• Meticulous attention to detail and a positive, can-do attitude

Preferred:

• Experience in compliance-sensitive or regulated domains (e.g., TCPA/DNC, fintech decisioning, audit-heavy systems)
• Experience with event-driven design, message queues, and caching strategies at scale
• Advanced degree
