Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization that powers digital workplace solutions for frontline employees across retail, manufacturing, and logistics sectors. They work with enterprise clients deploying their platform to hundreds of thousands of non-desk workers.

As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll own the technical bridge between our client's product and complex enterprise IT environments. You'll take deployments from zero to hundreds of thousands of active users, designing integration strategies, enabling customer IT teams, and building critical prototypes when needed to keep rollouts moving forward.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical side of enterprise onboardings from initial architecture discussions through stable production rollout
• Design and deliver identity and authentication solutions (OIDC, Entra ID, Frontline Identity), SCIM provisioning, and REST API integrations
• Connect the platform to HR and operational systems such as SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, or UKG
• Guide customer IT teams, their partners, and external development partners to solutions you would sign off on yourself, ensuring they can operate independently
• Build first-version prototypes when building is the fastest path to proving an approach or unblocking a rollout, then hand off with clean documentation
• Shape how AI agents, tool access via MCP, and agent-to-agent scenarios deploy in real enterprise environments, including authentication and data boundary challenges
• Serve as technical authority in accounts, aligning requirements across project leadership, IT, security, business units, and works councils
• Feed product gaps you identify back to the product and engineering teams
• Travel regularly to customer sites, approximately 10-30% of your time

What We're Looking For

Must-Have Skills:

• Around 3-5+ years in IT or tech consulting, customer engineering, forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or SaaS implementation with genuine enterprise experience
• Hands-on experience with enterprise integration and identity: SSO and authentication (OIDC, OAuth, Entra ID or comparable), REST APIs and API-based integrations delivered in real enterprise IT landscapes
• Track record of technical ownership in enterprise projects where you made technical decisions jointly with IT, security, and business units—not just coordinated them
• Real technical depth without writing production code full-time: you read code, review designs, debug integrations, and build working prototypes
• German at C1 level or higher and fluent English

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with SCIM provisioning and connections to HR or workforce systems like SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, or UKG
• A well-informed, current perspective on where agentic AI is heading: MCP, A2A, EMA, and the authentication questions beneath them—we seek someone who follows this space closely and has formed their own opinion
• Prior experience as a customer engineer or forward deployed engineer at a product company rather than exclusively in traditional consulting
• Familiarity with workflow automation tools (n8n or similar), comfort with logs, metrics and dashboards, or experience with co-determination and data privacy in enterprise settings
