Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization that is transforming how frontline and deskless workers connect to their employers' digital ecosystems. Our client serves major enterprise customers across Europe, helping hundreds of thousands of employees access company information and systems through a modern employee experience platform.

As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, you will sit at the critical intersection between product and customer environment. You'll own the technical implementation of enterprise deployments from architecture through to production rollout at scale, working directly inside customer IT landscapes that span decades-old systems and cutting-edge AI capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technical delivery for enterprise customer onboardings, from initial architecture design through stable production deployment supporting hundreds of thousands of users
• Design and implement enterprise integrations including identity and authentication (OIDC, OAuth, Entra ID), user provisioning (SCIM), and connections to HR and operational systems
• Act as technical advisor to customer IT teams, system integrators, and external development partners, enabling them to build and maintain solutions rather than creating permanent dependencies
• Build proof-of-concept integrations and first-version implementations when that's the fastest path to unblocking rollouts, then transfer ownership with proper documentation and knowledge transfer
• Lead technical implementation of AI capabilities including agents, tool access protocols, and the authentication and data boundary requirements that secure them in enterprise environments
• Serve as technical authority within customer accounts, working across project management, IT, security, functional departments, and works councils to make binding technical decisions
• Travel regularly to customer sites (approximately 10-30% of time) across Germany and potentially broader Europe
• Feed implementation insights and integration gaps back to internal product and engineering teams to improve platform capabilities

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 3-5+ years in IT consulting, customer engineering, forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or SaaS implementation with genuine enterprise exposure
• Hands-on experience delivering enterprise integrations and identity solutions including SSO, authentication protocols (OIDC, OAuth, Entra ID or equivalent), and REST API integrations within real enterprise IT environments
• Track record of customer-facing technical responsibility in enterprise projects where you made technical decisions in collaboration with IT, security, and functional stakeholders
• Technical depth to read code, review architectural designs, debug integrations, and build working prototypes without being a full-time developer
• German language proficiency at C1 level or higher
• Fluent English

Preferred experience:

• User provisioning implementations (SCIM) and integrations with HR or workforce management systems such as SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, or UKG
• Current knowledge of agentic AI developments including tool access protocols, agent-to-agent communication, and enterprise AI authentication challenges
• Previous Customer Engineer or Forward Deployed Engineer experience at a product company rather than purely consulting roles
• Familiarity with workflow automation tools, observability systems, or German co-determination and enterprise data protection requirements
