Lead Business Analyst, Process & Automation (Berlin | remote)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Lead Business Analyst, Process & Automation to join their Capital and Payments operations team. This is a remote position based in Germany.

Our client's Process & Automation team works across the operational backbone of payments, lending, underwriting, risk, and billing. You will identify friction points, diagnose root causes using data, and build the process improvements, tooling, and automation solutions that eliminate toil and drive measurable outcomes.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role where you will own projects end to end—from discovery through implementation and measurement. AI tooling is integrated into daily workflows, not treated as a separate initiative.

Responsibilities

• Map end-to-end operational flows, trace handoffs, and document how processes actually run versus how they are intended to work
• Diagnose root causes versus symptoms and quantify where time, cost, and customer impact are lost
• Design clear requirements, improved workflows, and delivery plans with measurable success criteria
• Build or coordinate the delivery of automation, tooling, data solutions, and controls needed to support new processes
• Lead testing, launch readiness, impact tracking, adoption efforts, and handoff to operational owners
• Identify and deploy AI agents for bounded, multi-step operational workflows, including evaluation frameworks to prove effectiveness
• Partner with Product, Technology, and cross-functional teams to translate operational insights into prioritized business cases

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in business analysis, process improvement, operations, implementation, or product operations
• Proven track record leading complex cross-functional projects from problem definition through implementation and ongoing measurement
• Strong analytical capabilities—comfort using data, queries, and dashboards to validate problems and prove outcomes
• Demonstrated ability to transform ambiguous business needs into clear requirements, process designs, and delivery plans
• Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, written communication, and presentation skills
• Experience driving alignment and outcomes across teams without direct management authority

Preferred but not required:

• Experience in financial services, fintech, payments, lending, insurance, or other complex regulated environments
• Background in commerce, e-commerce, point-of-sale, or marketplace operations
• Hands-on experience with workflow, case-management, or process-automation platforms
• Technical skills in SQL, business-intelligence tools, or data modelling
• Experience evaluating or deploying AI-enabled solutions for operational use cases
• Track record of driving post-launch adoption and effectiveness, beyond initial delivery
