Senior Developer Experience Security Engineer

We are representing a confidential technology scale-up in the automotive sector that is transforming how consumers and businesses interact. Our client has experienced rapid growth and recently secured significant funding to accelerate their engineering operations.

We're seeking a Senior Developer Experience Security Engineer to join their expanding technology team in London. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering and security, where you'll embed security practices into developer workflows and tooling, making secure development the default path.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain secure-by-default platform capabilities including IAM patterns, network primitives, secrets management, runtime protections, and encryption that product teams can easily adopt
• Build automated security checks, guardrails, and visibility tools that continuously assess risk and reduce manual security audits
• Collaborate with engineering teams to embed secure software development practices into CI/CD pipelines, templates, and shared tooling using Shift Left and Secure by Design principles
• Reduce manual work and toil through automation including scripting, workflows, and custom tooling for both technology and Security Operations teams
• Ensure platform-level security telemetry, logging, and monitoring are consistent, high-quality, and available as standard capabilities
• Define and implement platform-wide security use cases such as SIEM detections, alerts, and signals that scale across teams
• Work as part of a virtual SOC supporting security incident response activities
• Enable secure engineering practices through documentation, examples, platform defaults, and targeted training
• Translate security policies and standards into practical, enforceable platform patterns and guardrails
• Stay current with emerging security trends and best practices in cloud-native environments

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Platform Engineer, Developer Experience Engineer, or similar role focused on enabling engineering teams
• Demonstrated experience with containers and serverless technologies using Infrastructure as Code
• Strong knowledge of AWS cloud security best practices and tooling
• Technical expertise in security best practices for networks, systems, web applications, APIs, and databases
• Solid understanding of secure software development practices
• Familiarity with security tools including SIEM, IDS/IPS, WAF, and vulnerability scanners
• Knowledge of common adversarial Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (MITRE ATT&CK TTPs)
• Understanding of security standards and frameworks such as ISO27001, NIST CSF, or AWS Foundational Security Best Practices is beneficial
• Security certifications (GCLD, Security+, AWS/GCP Security Certifications) are a plus
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process with our recruitment team based on your experience level and the client's budget for this position.
