Senior Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential property technology client that is transforming operations for rental property managers across North America. Our client is a well-funded, rapidly scaling organization backed by top-tier venture investors, and they need a Senior Engineer to help architect their next phase of growth.

This is a high-impact, hands-on role where you'll work directly with customers, own critical infrastructure decisions, and help shape engineering culture as an early team member. You'll be building systems that serve thousands of properties and millions of end users.

Responsibilities

• Lead critical system rewrites to transform architecture into a highly scalable, resilient foundation
• Own the design and performance optimization of data storage systems, ensuring they scale with customer and AI demands
• Build and evolve deployment pipelines, enabling reliable, automated releases
• Set up and manage modern cloud infrastructure from scratch, leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to ensure consistency, security, and scalability
• Establish engineering best practices, including observability, incident response processes, and system hardening
• Drive robust analytics and monitoring to track performance, reliability, and system effectiveness
• Mentor engineers and elevate the team's capabilities across infrastructure, scalability, and product development
• Act as a bridge between customers, engineering, and product vision, ensuring smooth onboarding and reliable integrations
• Occasionally travel to customer offices to understand their needs firsthand

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• 3+ years of experience building production-grade software systems, with a focus on scalability, performance, and reliability
• Proven expertise in backend development, including API design, system architecture, and cloud-based services
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar) and deploying production systems using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi)
• Hands-on experience with database design, performance tuning, and scaling high-throughput data systems
• Familiarity with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern DevOps practices
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a distributed, fast-paced environment
• Comfortable operating in early-stage, high-ownership environments with evolving requirements
• Willingness to work extended hours when needed and wear multiple hats as a founding team member
• Comfortable getting hands dirty with legacy code and speaking directly with customers

Bonus qualifications:

• Experience with React and TypeScript on the frontend
• Exposure to LLM-based systems, AI infrastructure, or agentic AI workflows
