Corporate Counsel – Remote

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential performing arts education organization in their search for a Corporate Counsel. This is a remote, full-time role with preference for candidates in the Eastern or Central time zones.

This position offers a unique opportunity to serve as a key legal partner to a high-growth organization, embedding within business units to provide practical, risk-balanced guidance that supports expansion nationwide. You'll work with an ownership mindset to build out a scalable in-house legal function.

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted advisor to executives and operating businesses on operational, compliance, and legal matters
• Lead drafting, review, and negotiation of commercial agreements including leases, NDAs, employment agreements, and license agreements from intake through execution
• Design, implement, and monitor compliance programs and policies to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and safety standards
• Proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks across business units
• Build scalable legal infrastructure including templates, playbooks, policies, and decision frameworks to support growth
• Balance legal risk and business objectives to enable informed decision-making
• Collaborate with the legal team to ensure consistent, high-quality support
• Manage outside counsel for efficient, high-quality outcomes
• Drive and execute cross-functional initiatives

What We're Looking For

Required:

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active U.S. state bar membership in good standing
• 6+ years of relevant legal experience with strong focus on drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including commercial leases
• Strong business judgment with entrepreneurial, strategic mindset
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with ability to influence partners
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Executive presence and confidence when advising senior leadership
• Curious, adaptable, and motivated to grow with a scaling organization
• Ability to translate complex legal/regulatory issues into clear, actionable guidance
• High integrity, discretion, and strong ethical standards

Preferred:

• Demonstrated interest in performing arts and/or performing arts education
• Top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal experience
• Experience with multi-site businesses
• General litigation, employment law, and/or compliance experience

Pay

This is a full-time, remote position. Our client offers a base salary range of $145,000–$175,000 annually, plus bonus eligibility. Final compensation is determined by location, skills, experience, and relevant education. The client also provides comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) with employer match.
