About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their distributed team in Ukraine. Our client serves the consumer finance sector and is building scalable systems to support their growing product portfolio.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building new systems, enhancing existing architecture, integrating with external platforms, and tackling performance challenges. You will collaborate with developers, QA professionals, and Product Managers to design and implement features while contributing to technical roadmaps. This role offers the opportunity to shape engineering vision alongside technical leadership.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and modify software systems while considering overall service architecture
- Analyze user needs to determine whether to build new software or enhance existing solutions
- Translate business requirements into scalable, production-ready software
- Lead design and code reviews to maintain quality standards
- Participate in strategic discussions about team vision and technical direction
- Work across one of several key domains: customer communication systems, identity management, decision systems, or portfolio management platforms
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of professional backend software engineering experience building non-trivial web applications
- 3+ years of hands-on Ruby on Rails experience (bonus for Hotwire Turbo/Stimulus and Tailwind)
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to align technical decisions with business objectives
- Proven ability to break down large initiatives into incrementally deliverable components
- Excellent communication skills for describing complex technical problems and solutions
- Experience collaborating across teams to resolve complex issues
- Extensive experience with data model design for relational databases
- Track record of building systems from the ground up and addressing scaling challenges
Additional advantages:
- Advanced SQL skills for troubleshooting and complex reporting
- Strong frontend or DevOps/infrastructure experience
- Previous fintech industry experience
