About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential government services organization seeking an Adjunct Faculty Instructor to teach NAV 105: Introduction to Geopolitics (Capstone) for the Fall I semester. This is a remote, 1099 contractor role supporting online education for enlisted service members.
The Fall I term runs from August 10, 2026 through October 4, 2026, requiring a 10-week commitment with approximately eight (8) hours per week. This includes orientation, eight weeks of instruction (six hours teaching plus two hours of office hours weekly), and one week for final grading. First-time instructors teach one course per term; experienced instructors may teach up to two courses.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality online asynchronous instruction through a Learning Management System to enlisted military personnel pursuing college-level education
- Teach undergraduate-level courses following established syllabi and instructional standards using government-provided course materials
- Facilitate engaging online discussions that encourage critical thinking and active participation
- Grade assignments, examinations, and discussion posts using provided rubrics and deliver timely, detailed feedback
- Monitor student progress and proactively identify those at academic risk
- Respond to student inquiries within established timeframes and maintain weekly virtual office hours
- Prepare weekly progress reports and end-of-course summaries with recommendations
- Develop supplemental materials (10-15% maximum) incorporating current events or relevant experience, subject to approval
- Submit all grades and required documentation within prescribed deadlines
- Participate in faculty meetings and collaborate with academic leadership as needed
- Ensure all materials comply with academic policies, copyright requirements, and government standards
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline (Doctorate preferred)
- Minimum 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline
- Prior collegiate-level teaching experience, preferably online instruction
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (Blackboard or similar platforms)
- Expertise in political science, comparative politics, international relations, and U.S. security studies
- Experience teaching introductory courses in world politics, global security studies, American foreign policy, or U.S. national security
- Relevant military experience or experience working with military personnel
- Authorization to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Military service or civilian Department of Defense experience, particularly with Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard
- Extensive subject matter expertise in national security, military operations, leadership, history, government, or public policy

Compensation
