About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential EdTech organization in their search for an AI Portfolio Lead based in London. Our client is at the forefront of workforce transformation through AI and technology upskilling, partnering with major organizations to deliver measurable learning outcomes at scale.

As Portfolio Lead, you will curate and evolve a world-class apprenticeship product portfolio focused on AI upskilling. You'll serve as an AI-literate strategist who shapes roadmaps, drives performance metrics, and influences cross-organizational decisions on programme retention and quality. This role sits at the intersection of learning design, product strategy, and market intelligence—requiring someone who can speak credibly to technical leaders, policy stakeholders, and internal teams alike.

Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Strategy: Own the development and iteration of AI product offerings by analyzing internal and external data to improve bookings, customer retention, and learner outcomes
  • Market Alignment: Validate market assumptions and competitive positioning in partnership with product marketing teams, shaping how technical value is communicated
  • Horizon Scanning: Stay ahead of AI tooling trends—generative, agentic, and emerging frameworks—to identify new skills development opportunities
  • Investment Validation: Scope custom AI offerings with GTM, finance, and delivery teams, balancing market potential against technical investment requirements
  • Policy Influence: Support policy initiatives and consultation responses to shape apprenticeship frameworks in the AI space
  • Learning Squad Management: Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to create compliant apprenticeship curricula that meet learner and client needs
  • Organizational Enablement: Support delivery, admissions, and product teams to assess readiness for high-quality learning experiences
  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify and escalate risks to leadership, ensuring products meet quality benchmarks
  • Feedback Integration: Establish rigorous feedback loops, synthesizing input from delivery teams, learners, and clients to drive continuous improvement
  • Expert Voice: Serve as the internal and external authority on AI practitioner needs, building trust with technical leaders at all levels

What We're Looking For

  • AI Domain Expertise: Sophisticated background in AI upskilling with a network that keeps you ahead of industry shifts; deep understanding of infrastructure and tools supporting modern AI (generative, agentic, and beyond)
  • Product or Curriculum Launch Experience: Proven track record working with cross-functional stakeholders to launch learning products and drive ongoing improvement
  • Communication Excellence: Confident written and oral communication at all levels—from technical specifications with engineers to ROI discussions with C-suite executives
  • Signal vs. Noise: Ability to make stakeholders feel heard while prioritizing effectively; balance learner experience with resource constraints
  • Applied Learning Vision: Strong belief in apprenticeship and applied learning models; expertise in designing effective technical skills acquisition
  • AI-Enabled Practices: Experience building and using AI workflows to automate research, development, and reporting tasks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant technical proficiency as an AI practitioner with hands-on experience in AI automation tooling
  • Experience with cohort-based or online content creation, specifically within technical or professional training
  • Knowledge of regulated apprenticeship frameworks (e.g., UK Apprenticeship Levy)
