This is a fully remote, full-time Quality Control Inspector & Damage Estimator role for someone with proven experience assessing commercial trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment and estimating repair costs in a professional capacity.

Important: This position requires documented professional experience pricing and estimating repairs — not performing them. Candidates without formal estimating backgrounds in commercial vehicles will not be considered. Estimating knowledge will be tested during the interview process.

Employment structure: New hires begin on a paid per-inspection basis to validate estimating accuracy against live reports. Transition to full-time salary occurs once quality standards are consistently met. Responsibilities

• Quality Control: Audit first-draft inspection reports from field inspectors. Verify photo accuracy, completeness, and alignment with written findings. Confirm VINs, specifications, mileage, tire depths, brake measurements, and fluid data are accurate and internally consistent.
• Repair Estimating: Assign defensible repair cost estimates to flagged deficiencies. Distinguish minor adjustments from major repairs and produce client-ready numbers independently.
• Dispatching: Coordinate inspection jobs across a national network of independent contractors. Manage scheduling across multiple time zones efficiently.
• Inspector Training & Coordination: Onboard new inspectors using guideline materials and past report examples. Serve as the most organized, reliable point of contact to retain top talent.

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Professional estimating experience in one of these contexts: dealership service writer/manager, insurance adjuster or equipment appraiser, auction/remarketing condition reporting, fleet maintenance manager with budget responsibility, or pre-purchase inspection provider
• Commercial vehicle literacy: Working knowledge of Class 6–8 truck and trailer components, systems, and failure indicators. Mechanic certification not required, but you must speak the technical language.
• Detail precision: Naturally catch transposed VINs, missing photos, inconsistent tire depths, and contradictory findings. This is a core trait, not a trainable skill.
• Independent contractor coordination: Experience working with or managing 1099 workers. Ability to maintain standards without direct authority.
• Remote discipline: Self-managing, tech-proficient, and professional in all written and verbal communication.
• Organizational rigor: Manage concurrent QC queues, dispatch assignments, and inspector schedules without items slipping through.

Preferred:

• Service writer or service manager background at a commercial truck/equipment dealership
• Insurance appraisal or total loss estimating on commercial vehicles
• Equipment auction or remarketing condition reporting
• Familiarity with DOT inspection criteria or FMCSA standards

Pay

The client offers $50,000–$65,000 per year upon transition to full-time employment. Initial per-inspection compensation structure applies during the evaluation period.
