Staff Decision Scientist (International)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential consumer technology organization in their search for a Staff Decision Scientist based in the UK. Our client is a category-leading platform serving over 100 million users globally, and their Data & Analytics organization plays a central role in shaping product strategy, growth initiatives, and resource allocation across the business.

This is a high-impact role where you'll serve as a strategic thought partner to product, engineering, marketing, and finance teams. You'll own the analytical narrative for your area and deliver insights that directly influence roadmaps and investment decisions. The focus is on driving decisions, not producing dashboards.

Responsibilities

• Own the analytical narrative for your operating group, serving as strategic thought partner to cross-functional teams including product managers, engineers, marketing, and finance
• Present insights and recommendations to leadership with clear narratives that drive action across the organization
• Establish causality using appropriate methods including A/B testing, analytics, and causal inference techniques
• Collaborate with engineering on event instrumentation and with product teams to translate insights into concrete actions
• Define and implement metrics strategies that measure what matters in a complex, multi-user engagement ecosystem
• Build explanations on top of measurement, grounding analysis in user motivations and context beyond what data alone reveals
• Shape the AI-native analytics stack by leading evaluation and adoption of new tools, agent workflows, and practices that enable self-serve analytics
• Mentor senior individual contributors on causal thinking, experimental rigor, and AI-leveraged workflows

What We're Looking For

Core Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience in analytics, data science, or decision science roles at consumer technology companies
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as economics, statistics, quantitative social science, or operations research
• Demonstrated experience with causal inference methods in applied settings (difference-in-differences, instrumental variables, regression discontinuity, synthetic controls, propensity score matching)
• Track record of influencing product or business strategy through data, with specific examples of cross-functional impact
• Experience with experimentation platforms such as Statsig, Optimizely, or similar tools
• Proficiency in SQL and Python/R for statistical analysis
• Problem-solving mindset with ability to structure ambiguous problems before selecting analytical approaches
• Ownership mentality, taking responsibility from problem framing through recommendation delivery and impact tracking
• Experience using AI tooling as a development partner, delegating tasks and reviewing outputs critically

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with subscription or freemium business models
• Familiarity with international or multi-market analytics
• Experience building dbt models or contributing to analytics engineering workflows
• Background in growth, retention, or lifecycle analytics
• Experience with LTV modeling, incrementality testing, or marketing mix modeling

Pay

The client has indicated a UK-based salary range of £99,500 - £117,500 plus equity. Compensation decisions take into account your background, experience, skills, and relevant qualifications.
