Junior Software Engineer – Platforms (all genders)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential renewable energy technology client seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join their Platforms team. This is a remote opportunity based in Germany, with optional access to offices in Aachen and Munich.

As a Junior Software Engineer on the Cloud Connector team, you'll build and maintain backend services that integrate external energy provider APIs into a fast-scaling platform. Your work will standardize complex external APIs into reliable connections, enabling seamless energy management for end users and platform partners.

Responsibilities

• Implement new cloud integrations based on API documentation, OAuth specifications, and webhook contracts
• Develop and maintain Go services that abstract provider-specific edge cases for measurement gathering and control commands
• Build solutions for a platform handling approximately 20,000 cloud-connected assets with 80%+ growth rates
• Debug distributed pipeline failures using structured logs, distributed traces, and metrics across OAuth flows and webhook processing
• Write comprehensive tests covering provider API contracts, webhook edge cases, and distributed failure modes
• Contribute to API specifications using TypeSpec/OpenAPI and protobuf/gRPC
• Collaborate with cloud API teams, Product Owners, Platform Engineers, and Energy Domain Experts
• Deploy, operate, and monitor services on Kubernetes clusters using automated CI/CD pipelines

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Currently located in Germany
• Pragmatic engineering approach: shipping working software and iterating over perfection
• Product thinking: understanding how your code enables value for users and partners
• Genuine interest in renewable energy and hardware systems
• End-to-end ownership mindset: following through from development to production deployment
• Experience or willingness to work with: Go, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, gRPC, Protocol Buffers, PostgreSQL, AWS, CI/CD pipelines
• Comfort with AI-assisted coding workflows for code generation, review, and test creation

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with electrical engineering concepts (power, current, phases)
• Experience running Go backend workloads in Kubernetes
• Background with IoT or embedded-adjacent systems
• Open-source Go project contributions
• German language skills (English is the working language)
