Forward Deployed Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-funded European B2B SaaS company that builds infrastructure for regulated financial services. They have closed significant enterprise contracts with banks and insurers, and now need someone to own the technical path from signed deal to production deployment.

This is a remote-first role based in Europe, with occasional travel across the UK, France, Spain, and the US. You will be the first hire in this function and report directly to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Customer discovery and requirements engineering (35%): Lead technical workshops with enterprise clients in banking and insurance. Translate their requirements into clear specs for internal product, sales, and engineering teams. Surface what needs to be built to support specific deployment models, including client-hosted scenarios.
• Solution architecture and technical documentation (35%): Design end-to-end integration architectures for each client, covering both cloud-hosted and on-premise environments. Produce the compliance-grade technical documentation that large financial institutions require—sometimes dozens of documents per deal.
• Procurement, security, and delivery oversight (30%): Use our client's existing compliance assets (SOC 2, DPAs, prior questionnaire libraries) to complete security questionnaires, navigate data-residency requirements, and drive procurement cycles to close. Oversee deployment execution handled by a freelance engineering network.
• Build reusable delivery assets: scoping templates, architecture patterns, and procurement answer libraries that make future deals faster and more predictable.

What We're Looking For

• Technical credibility: you read code, understand API integrations and agent-based architectures, and can scope and oversee complex deployments. This is not a hands-on coding role; implementation is done by external engineers.
• Comfortable leading technical conversations with enterprise buyers and their security teams.
• Experience completing security questionnaires and procurement processes using existing compliance documentation.
• Background working in or adjacent to regulated industries—finance, insurance, healthcare—with understanding of data residency, compliance frameworks, and enterprise IT requirements.
• Ability to operate in ambiguity across sales, operations, and engineering. You ramp quickly into new domains and translate between business and technical stakeholders.
• Interest in modern AI infrastructure, agent frameworks, and integration patterns.
• Willingness to travel roughly once per month within Europe, with occasional US trips.

This role is not: a backend engineering position (you'll spend most of your week with clients), a pure pre-sales role (you own architecture and delivery, not just pitching), or a slideware role (real technical depth required, even if you're not writing production code daily).
