Forward Deployed Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI technology company seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer based in Paris. This role sits at the intersection of customer engagement and production engineering—you'll work directly with end users to understand their technical challenges, then build and deploy the systems that solve them.

This is not a traditional engineering role with tickets and roadmaps handed to you. You'll embed with customers, define problems in ambiguous environments, and own both the technical solution and the relationship. If you've been a technical founder, rebuilt a customer's workflow on-site, or shipped systems as the sole engineer responsible, this role will feel familiar.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with customers to understand workflows, constraints, and business goals
• Define technical problems independently based on customer needs and operational context
• Build production systems using APIs, models, and internal tooling
• Prototype, ship, iterate, and maintain systems in live environments with real user data
• Own projects end to end, from initial discovery through deployment and ongoing support
• Identify platform gaps and feed recurring patterns back to internal product and R&D teams
• Travel to client sites as needed to support implementation and relationship management

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience with shipped production systems
• Strong proficiency in at least one general-purpose language (Python, TypeScript, Go, or similar)
• Ability to work across the stack and learn unfamiliar systems quickly
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Willingness to travel to customer locations as required
• Legal authorization to work in France

Preferred:

• Track record of shipping systems with real users in production environments
• High agency and strong prioritization skills—you identify core problems and execute without waiting for direction
• Comfort operating in ambiguous environments where you define your own path
• Experience working directly with customers and translating requirements into technical solutions
• Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders
