About This Opportunity
Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential research institution in France, seeking a Post-Doctoral Researcher to join their thermochemical process development team. This 12-month contract position focuses on pilot-scale gasification research for renewable energy production, specifically working on nitrogen-free atmosphere adaptation for sustainable aviation fuel production.
You'll work hands-on with a 100kW pilot-scale gasification unit, contributing to cutting-edge research in biomass and waste valorization through thermal processes. This role combines experimental work, process engineering, and scientific communication in a collaborative research environment.
Responsibilities
- Finalize modifications to the pilot gasification unit for nitrogen-free atmosphere operation (O2/H2O/CO2 mixture injection)
- Conduct experimental campaigns on the downdraft gasification pilot unit to evaluate operating conditions
- Perform analytical characterization of products and process parameters
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to scientific communications and publications
- Work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and research scientists on the platform
What We're Looking For
- Required: PhD degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, or related field
- Required: Maximum three years of experience post-PhD defense
- Strong background in process engineering, thermal processes, and analytical chemistry
- Hands-on experience with pilot-scale or industrial-scale experimental work highly valued
- Practical skills in equipment intervention including mechanical, electrical, and automation aspects
- Knowledge of sensor and analyzer communication protocols is a plus
- Rigorous approach with strong analytical thinking and ability to work autonomously within a team
- Excellent writing skills for scientific valorization
- French language proficiency required for this position in Albi, France
