Senior Data Scientist (m/f/x)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization at the forefront of sustainable product development and digital transformation. Our client is scaling rapidly and seeks a Senior Data Scientist to build production-grade AI systems that enable smarter, more responsible business decisions across global supply chains.

This is a remote position open to candidates based in the EU with legal work authorization. You'll join during an exciting growth phase, helping establish engineering best practices while delivering cutting-edge AI solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop, deploy, and maintain scalable APIs serving AI/ML models in production environments
• Own end-to-end delivery of AI solutions from prototyping through full productionization
• Design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems using vector databases
• Build and orchestrate AI agents using frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, or similar tools
• Evaluate and select appropriate large language models and foundation models based on specific use cases
• Optimize model inference for latency, cost efficiency, and throughput at scale
• Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting for deployed models and services
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless testing, deployment, and iteration of AI systems
• Work closely with product and engineering teams to integrate AI capabilities into core products
• Translate business problems into technical solutions and communicate trade-offs clearly
• Drive structure and stability in AI development processes during a high-growth phase
• Balance execution speed with maintainable, well-documented, and scalable systems

What We're Looking For

Core Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in Python, with approximately 10 years of overall software engineering or data experience
• Proven experience building and deploying production-grade APIs (preferably FastAPI; REST/GraphQL is a plus)
• Hands-on experience with large language models and LLMOps, including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and evaluation (GPT, Claude, etc.)
• Strong experience fine-tuning open-source models (Hugging Face ecosystem)
• Practical experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma, pgvector)
• Experience building AI agents using frameworks like LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, or similar
• Solid understanding of model deployment and serving (vLLM, TGI, or managed endpoints)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment practices (Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions)
• Strong experience processing large-scale text datasets
• Legal authorization to work in the EU

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with MLOps platforms (MLflow, Weights & Biases)
• Familiarity with cloud AI ecosystems (AWS Bedrock, GCP Vertex AI, Azure OpenAI)
• Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects
• Experience in sustainability or climate-related domains
• Background in B2B SaaS environments
• Prior experience in startup or scale-up environments (100-300 employees)
