Business Systems Architect (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential defense technology organization based in Munich that is building the next generation of autonomous air defense systems. Our talent team is seeking a Business Systems Architect to own and evolve the enterprise systems, tools, and processes that power their operations across engineering, production, and supply chain.

This is a hands-on role where you'll work with Odoo as the core ERP platform, designing and implementing smart, scalable workflows that connect requirements and engineering through to production and service delivery. You'll translate business needs into technical solutions, build integrations across the digital landscape, and ensure systems are ready for rapid growth.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain enterprise architecture across business capabilities, processes, data, and applications, creating a lean digital thread from requirements through production and service
• Define and enforce standards including single source of truth, SSO, clean integrations, and compliance with ISO 27001, ISO 9001, and export control requirements
• Configure, customize, and extend Odoo modules using Python to match evolving business needs, owning upgrades, testing, and deployment
• Manage integrations between Odoo and other business systems via APIs, middleware, or native connectors
• Support and optimize workflows for BOM management, production planning, work orders, and quality control
• Map, document, and continuously improve business processes, eliminating bottlenecks and reducing manual workarounds
• Manage product lifecycle processes from prototyping and engineering changes through serial production with full traceability
• Identify and implement AI and automation opportunities to reduce manual work and improve accuracy
• Anticipate when the current tool landscape needs to evolve and recommend dedicated PLM, MES, or other systems as needed

What We're Looking For

• 3–5 years of experience with ERP systems, with hands-on Odoo experience strongly preferred
• Solid Python development skills and familiarity with Odoo's OWL framework for customization and module development
• Proven experience mapping, documenting, and improving business processes with strong understanding of sales, procurement, inventory, production, and finance workflows
• Background in manufacturing, engineering, or hardware-building environments is a strong plus
• Experience building and maintaining integrations between business systems; you see the full landscape and know how the pieces fit together
• Familiarity with AI/ML tools and workflow automation platforms such as n8n, Make, or Zapier
• Awareness of ISO 27001, ISO 9001, and export control compliance in a systems context
• Clear communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Fluent in English; German is a plus
• Valid work permit for Germany (visa sponsorship not available)
