Responsibilities

Our client, a confidential research institute in Germany, is seeking a Research Data Manager (PostDoc) to lead a specialized project mapping metadata harvesting relationships across research data services. You will manage and coordinate the project end-to-end, setting up automated metadata collection systems with the help of AI tools. A key part of your role involves networking within the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) and related research data organizations, including organizing networking events to promote project goals. You will also conduct research aligned with the department's focus areas in knowledge technologies for the social sciences.

What We're Looking For

  • Completed PhD in Computer Science, Social Science, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in Research Data Management, ideally within NFDI or with services that harvest research metadata
  • Technical experience handling, curating, harvesting, and/or extracting research metadata
  • Proven research record in relevant topics, preferably Knowledge Graphs and/or Information Extraction
  • Excellent English skills required; German language skills are a plus
  • Strong networking capabilities combined with technical skills to wrangle, model, and analyze metadata

Pay

This is a full-time (100%), three-year limited position based in Köln, Germany, scheduled to start October 1, 2026. Compensation follows salary group 13 TV-L. Pay details will be discussed during the screening process.
