Freelance Broadcast Engineer Radio- en Audiomigratie (Freelance kan)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential media organization in Belgium for a critical broadcast systems migration project. In this role, you will play a key part in transitioning radio and audio systems to a new media and data center environment. Your work will ensure seamless continuity of live broadcasts throughout the migration process.

You will bridge technology and daily radio production operations, supporting software tools used by radio producers including production systems, music scheduling, and editorial platforms. Your focus will be on ensuring stable system integration and identifying opportunities for technical optimization.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing and executing the migration of radio systems from staging environments through to production cut-over
• Managing end-to-end configuration, maintenance, and integration of critical radio platforms including Omniplayer, Pluxbox, and RadioESB
• Testing workflows with end users and translating practical feedback into technical improvements
• Ensuring seamless system integration across network, storage, and application layers
• Analyzing and resolving complex incidents that arise when multiple systems interact
• Collaborating closely with infrastructure teams, integration partners, and internal stakeholders from radio, news, and operations
• Contributing to ICT infrastructure solutions at the system level

What We're Looking For

Essential qualifications:

• Demonstrable experience in broadcast environments with understanding of radio, production, and transmission
• Proven experience as a system administrator, including setup, management, and maintenance
• Strong technical foundation in IT, electronics, engineering, or audio technology
• System-level expertise in at least one specialist domain: Unix, Linux, Windows, mainframe, middleware, security, networking, or communication systems
• Experience with migrations, integrations, or setting up systems in new environments
• Familiarity with complex system landscapes and ICT infrastructure solutions

Highly valued skills:

• Knowledge of radio platforms such as Omniplayer, Pluxbox, and RadioESB
• Familiarity with broadcast concepts including codecs, AES67, playout, and studio workflows
• Hands-on, pragmatic, and structured working style with effectiveness in operational contexts where reliability is essential
• Analytical mindset with persistence in problem-solving
• Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Collaborative approach with active contribution to team results
