About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential healthcare organization seeking a Sr. Manager of Workplace, Health and Safety for their fulfillment operations in London. This senior leadership role is critical to establishing and maintaining world-class safety standards across a high-volume pharmaceutical distribution environment.
As the WHS Sr. Manager, you will own the complete health and safety management system, working directly with site leadership to build a culture where safety engagement is embedded at every level. You'll lead risk assessments, ensure regulatory compliance across all UK bodies, and drive continuous improvement through data-driven safety initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain the WHS Management System for the fulfillment center, interpreting policies and recommending improvements
- Drive associate safety engagement expectations with a focus on continuous improvement and world-class workplace safety standards
- Lead and oversee site-wide risk assessments, ensuring periodic reviews and updates following incidents
- Implement robust COSHH assessments for pharmaceutical active ingredients, intermediates, excipients, and laboratory chemicals
- Partner with the site General Manager to hold leadership accountable for incident reporting, leading indicators, and safety training adherence
- Develop monthly safety metrics for trending and identifying improvement opportunities
- Collaborate with site leadership to create quarterly safety plans, initiatives, and recognition programs
- Coordinate respiratory fit testing and annual medical evaluations
- Partner with Project Managers and Facilities to ensure regulatory compliance and safety design in equipment, process, and building projects
- Manage Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, and regulated waste programs
- Serve as liaison for all UK regulatory agency inquiries and inspections
- Partner with legal counsel to develop responses to investigations and proposed citations
- Manage on-site contract security and overall regulatory compliance program
- Oversee Workers Compensation processes for the facility
What We're Looking For
- BS/BA degree in safety or related field
- 12+ years of industry experience in workplace health and safety
- 5+ years of experience leading WHS for large fulfillment centers
- NEBOSH General Certificate (required)
- Experience working with British Pharmacopeia (BP) reference standards
- Experience implementing safety in a lab or compounding environment (preferred)
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Slides, etc.)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence change across large operational teams
