Forward Deployed Engineer (m/f/d)

About the Opportunity

We are representing a well-funded accounting and technology organization in Berlin that is transforming how professional services firms operate through AI-native systems and intelligent automation.

Our client is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to work at the intersection of engineering, product, and operations. In this role, you'll embed directly with operational teams to understand complex workflows, identify high-impact opportunities for technology intervention, and rapidly build solutions that improve how work gets done.

This is a full-time, in-office position based in Berlin, available to start as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with domain professionals to understand complex operational workflows and identify where software and AI can create the biggest impact
• Turn operational problems into working MVPs quickly, test with real users, and iterate based on feedback
• Build software, internal tools, integrations, automations, and AI-enabled workflows that solve real business problems
• Deploy solutions into live production environments and maintain them at scale
• Stay close to users after deployment, evaluate what works, and continuously improve the systems you build
• Transform successful prototypes into reliable, repeatable systems that can be rolled out across multiple teams
• Collaborate across functions with engineers, operators, and domain experts to take projects from discovery through implementation

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record shipping software, automations, or AI-enabled products that real users have relied on in production
• Comfortable working across APIs, databases, integrations, and modern development tooling
• High agency: you don't wait for perfect requirements—you take ambiguous problems, determine what matters, and drive them to completion
• Experience building with LLMs, agents, or AI-enabled workflows with a practical understanding of where AI creates real value versus where human oversight is essential
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to thrive in messy environments with imperfect data, legacy systems, and changing priorities
• Professional German and fluent English required—you'll be working directly with German-speaking teams
• Part engineer, part product thinker, fully hands-on

Pay

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process and are competitive for the Berlin market, including both cash compensation and equity participation.
