Project Manager 1, Medical Writing

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential biotechnology client in their search for a Project Manager 1, Medical Writing. This role supports global medical writing operations across clinical development programs from early-stage research through post-approval phases. You'll work at the intersection of clinical development, regulatory affairs, data sciences, and safety teams to drive strategic planning and execution.

Responsibilities

• Project manage clinical development programs from early stage through post-approval for the medical writing organization
• Develop detailed project schedules integrating key activities, timelines, and critical path tracking
• Drive collaboration and transparency across cross-functional teams while facilitating strategic planning
• Develop decision-making methodologies and tools to identify complex issues with program-level impact
• Manage project risk assessment and reporting to stakeholders
• Ensure accurate budget and resourcing requirements are maintained, escalating changes as needed
• Partner with leadership to schedule governance meetings addressing strategy, emerging data, and budget alignment
• Manage team collaboration platforms and dashboards for organizational alignment
• Maintain departmental objectives and key results (OKRs), communicating change, risk, and impact
• May mentor and supervise junior staff

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 3-6 years of drug development experience in pharma, biotech, or contract research organizations
• Minimum 1-3 years of direct project management experience in early and/or late stage clinical development
• Ability to drive and enable effective team meetings and high-performing teams
• Strong documentation, organization, and time management skills in fast-paced environments
• Experience with Project Professional software
• Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Biological Sciences or closely related field

Preferred:

• Experience in the overall drug development process
• 1-2 years of nonclinical project management experience for IND-enabling studies
• Strong familiarity with regulatory submission requirements (IND through BLA/NDA)
• Experience with nonclinical study management and monitoring
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, PowerBI, and Microsoft Teams
• PMP certification or equivalent
