Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential real estate services organization seeking a Staff Appraiser to join their valuations team in the San Mateo, CA market. This is a work-from-home position requiring local market expertise and the ability to conduct field assignments.
In this role, you will:
- Complete desktop and field appraisal reports according to client specifications and quality standards
- Conduct quality control reviews on complex valuation reports
- Provide review appraisals and resolve quality control escalations
- Troubleshoot and independently resolve complex issues with field appraisers and lender clients
- Support special valuation projects as assigned
- Maintain consistent turnaround times while upholding high-quality appraisal standards
What We're Looking For
Our client requires candidates who possess:
- Active Certified Residential or Certified General Appraiser designation in California (required)
- Demonstrated experience appraising a broad range of property types
- Strong expertise in the San Mateo, CA market and surrounding areas
- High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and appraisal software
- Strong computer skills for report development and professional communication
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of high-level results
- Commitment to quality appraisal products and professional integrity
- Current authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship
Location requirement: Candidates must reside within reasonable commuting distance of San Mateo, CA to provide coverage for this market.

This position offers a competitive compensation structure including guaranteed base salary plus order-level compensation for completed assignments. Our client also provides comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, up to 24 paid days off in the first year, and reimbursement for continuing education and professional expenses.
