Software Developer Java/ Node.JS (Web Development Team)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential software development organization with offices in Berlin and Munich. Our talent team is seeking a Software Developer specializing in Java and Node.js to join their Web Development team. In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of web services and applications.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Designing and developing internal company-wide web applications and services
• Participating in solution architecture creation, including selecting technical approaches and decomposing services
• Building and maintaining services in AWS and Kubernetes-based environments
• Developing tools and platforms for localization workflows and integrating with third-party systems
• Improving reliability, scalability, and observability of production systems
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to evolve shared infrastructure and internal platforms

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 3-5 years of strong backend web development experience using Kotlin or Java
• Practical experience with Node.js
• Solid understanding of modern backend frameworks such as Ktor and Spring
• Proven experience designing and building production-grade systems
• Understanding of distributed system fundamentals including networking, fault tolerance, and scalability
• Experience working with cloud environments (AWS or similar platforms)
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-structured code
• Willingness to take ownership of production systems including support and continuous improvement
• Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
• Experience with observability tools including metrics, logging, and tracing
• Practical experience using AI tools or agents in development workflows
