Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential telecommunications organization seeking an accomplished Senior Data Privacy Counsel for a long-term engagement. This role offers flexible remote or hybrid work arrangements across the APAC region and provides the opportunity to advise on complex privacy matters within a highly regulated network services environment.

We are looking for senior privacy lawyers who can provide strategic legal guidance on telecommunications-specific privacy frameworks and serve as trusted advisors to cross-functional stakeholders navigating data protection compliance.

Responsibilities

• Act as senior legal adviser on privacy, confidentiality of communications, data handling, data access and retention, and lawful-access issues in a telecommunications and network services context
• Provide clear, risk-based legal advice to privacy, regulatory, enforcement, and compliance stakeholders on applicable laws and regulatory expectations
• Lead or contribute to drafting and refining policies, guidance documents, and contractual provisions related to privacy, confidentiality, information security, and regulatory compliance
• Support incident and issue management processes when privacy or confidentiality concerns arise
• Collaborate closely with technical, operational, and security teams to ensure products, services, and projects comply with legal and regulatory requirements
• Keep stakeholders informed of key legal and regulatory developments affecting the telecommunications sector

What We're Looking For

• Admitted to practise as a solicitor in Australia with 7-15 years post-qualification experience (senior lawyers welcome to apply)
• Significant post-qualification experience in privacy law
• Experience advising under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and telecommunications-specific privacy frameworks, including Part 13 and related interception/access laws, would be highly valued
• In-house, secondment, or private practice experience in telecommunications, network services, or another highly regulated technology environment required
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and influence decision-makers at all levels of an organization
• Strong drafting skills and ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical business guidance
