About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential SaaS client in their search for a Principal Decision Scientist - Marketing based in Berlin, Germany. This is a senior-level role where you'll lead the development of an analytics function that transforms cross-channel marketing data into strategic insights and measurable business impact.
You will shape the technical direction for advanced analytics initiatives, driving sophisticated modelling, experimentation, and data infrastructure capabilities. Operating at the intersection of data science, marketing, and business strategy, you'll translate large-scale datasets into actionable recommendations that optimize performance and support commercial growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of experimentation frameworks, including geo-based and holdout incrementality testing, to validate marketing investment decisions at scale
- Evolve Marketing Mix Modelling (MMM) capability, including model development, calibration, and translation into actionable budget allocation recommendations for senior leadership
- Develop sophisticated statistical models such as LTV prediction, churn scoring, and audience segmentation that influence strategic decisions across Marketing, Finance, and Product
- Architect and govern the marketing data layer, ensuring best practices across dbt modelling, data quality, and documentation
- Define and lead cross-functional analytics initiatives spanning teams and business units, bringing analytical rigor to complex commercial problems
- Translate complex findings into compelling strategic narratives and executive-ready recommendations
- Partner with Finance to ensure marketing efficiency metrics, budget frameworks, and unit economics (CAC, LTV, Payback Period) align with company-wide financial reporting
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and Marketing Technology teams to shape the long-term marketing data stack roadmap
- Lead thinking on how AI tools can augment analytics workflows and guide marketing teams on practical AI applications
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in a similar analytics or decision science role
- Deep expertise across Acquisition (Paid Search, Paid Social, SEO) and Retention (CRM, Lifecycle, Churn), with ability to connect channel-level performance to business outcomes
- Proven, hands-on experience building and deploying Marketing Mix Models (MMM) and incrementality testing frameworks in real business contexts
- Proficiency in applied statistical modelling, including LTV modeling, predictive scoring, and causal inference techniques
- Advanced Python or R for statistical analysis, modelling, and automation, with production-quality code standards
- Practical experience applying AI tools to accelerate and automate analytical workflows
- Demonstrated experience architecting scalable data models using SQL and dbt within a modern data stack
- Exceptional ability to distill complex technical findings into clear strategic narratives for non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership
- Experience working within high-growth SaaS or digital businesses with understanding of unit economics (CAC, LTV, Payback)
- Proven track record mentoring and developing analysts, including coaching on technical skills and stakeholder engagement
- Exposure to product analytics or growth functions, with ability to connect marketing and product data across the funnel
- Prior experience influencing tooling, vendor, or data infrastructure decisions at an organizational level
- Legal right to work in Germany without visa sponsorship or relocation assistance is required
