AIG is seeking an experienced Underwriter specialising in Political Risk to join our full-time team in London. You will evaluate and underwrite complex political risk insurance policies whilst managing exposure across multiple international markets and diverse client portfolios.

As a Political Risk Underwriter at AIG in London, you'll assess applications for political risk coverage, reviewing the geopolitical and commercial factors that influence exposure. What You'll Do

  • Evaluate political risk insurance applications, analysing country risk, governance factors, and client exposure

  • Review contract terms, conditions, and exclusions to ensure appropriate risk pricing and coverage scope
  • Build and maintain relationships with brokers and corporate clients across multiple industries
  • Monitor and review underwritten risks, providing market feedback and guidance
  • Process claims and liaise with clients on coverage determinations
  • Contribute to portfolio management and risk mitigation strategies

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in political risk insurance underwriting or a closely related underwriting discipline
  • Strong understanding of geopolitical events and their commercial impact
  • Excellent analytical and risk assessment capabilities
  • Ability to negotiate and communicate effectively with clients, brokers, and internal teams
  • Commercial awareness and business acumen within the insurance sector
  • Relevant qualifications in finance, economics, law, or insurance are advantageous
