Software Engineer Linux OS (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential energy technology organization seeking a Software Engineer to own their Linux operating system layer. In this role, you will build the foundation for a secure, stable, and scalable ecosystem that powers gateway device operations, monitoring, and fleet updates.

• Develop and maintain a secure, modular Linux operating system for embedded gateway hardware
• Design and implement frameworks and interfaces for remote device monitoring and update orchestration
• Integrate solutions for device identification, authentication, and authorization to ensure the highest security standards
• Drive the Linux OS roadmap independently, taking technical initiatives from concept through successful deployment
• Work within modern software development workflows including Git version control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code reviews

What We're Looking For

• Deep experience developing Linux-based operating systems and designing software architectures for embedded or IoT environments
• Proficiency with Yocto Project for creating and customizing Linux distributions
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python
• Extensive knowledge of Docker and containerization technologies
• Experience designing secure systems, including threat modeling and security-first architecture
• Comfort working with modern development tooling: Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and code review processes
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative team mindset
• Ability to maintain clarity and drive progress even within complex system architectures
• Fluent German language skills (written and spoken) are required for this role
