Medical Director (m/w/x)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential digital health organization seeking a Medical Director to lead the medical content strategy for a leading CME learning platform in Germany. In this role, you will oversee the medical subject catalog, determining which topics reach thousands of physicians across the country. Your decisions directly influence the medical knowledge being disseminated throughout the German healthcare system.

You will lead a seven-person medical team, maintain relationships with senior physicians and key opinion leaders, develop new continuing education formats, and build the processes that support organizational growth. This is a broad role combining strategic catalog and format development with day-to-day operations, always guided by the clinical perspective.

• Steer the medical topic catalog across specialties, ensuring evidence-based, clinically relevant content that addresses market gaps
• Build and maintain a network of senior physicians and KOLs, generating new continuing education ideas through ongoing dialogue
• Lead and develop the medical team, including two full-time colleagues and five students who handle content development, quality control, course descriptions, and topic ideation
• Drive format development across videos, panel discussions, and e-learning modules, providing medical input and the physician perspective for new formats including short-form video and gamified learning experiences
• Manage ongoing project topics and coordinate closely with speakers to ensure project requirements are met with content integrity
• Ensure all continuing education offerings meet CME standards, are evidence-based, and fulfill regulatory requirements
• Streamline workflows and documentation tools as the organization scales, serving as the key liaison for cross-departmental collaboration

What We're Looking For

• Completed medical degree (Studium der Medizin)
• Ideally 5+ years professional experience in clinical practice, industry, or digital health
• Team leadership experience preferred; ability to develop people and set priorities is essential
• Hands-on mindset—you handle tasks directly rather than only delegating, and are comfortable diving into operational work
• Enthusiasm for project management, process building, and medical content/teaching—this combination is core to the role
• Strong communication skills with senior physicians and industry partners, professional written and verbal style
• Native-level German and fluent English required
• Experience in a startup environment and medical education is advantageous
