Team Lead Java Engineer, Retail (f/m/x)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology company in the automotive sector, and our talent team is seeking a Team Lead Java Engineer to join their Ukrainian operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll manage a small development team while personally contributing to a microservices architecture at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own the full lifecycle of RESTful microservices, including architecture, solution design, development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance
• Lead a team of approximately 5 developers through 1:1s, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Write code and complete development tasks personally alongside your team members
• Conduct thorough code reviews, enforce best practices, and provide actionable feedback to maintain high quality standards
• Mentor team members, support their professional growth, participate in technical interviews, and model effective use of AI coding tools
• Collaborate across teams to clarify business requirements and balance architectural ideals with practical delivery needs

What We're Looking For

• At least 2 years of experience leading developer teams and taking ownership of software projects
• 5+ years of modern Java programming with a strong commitment to clean code principles
• Deep understanding of microservice architectures and AWS services such as ECS, SQS/SNS, EC2, Lambda, and CloudWatch
• Minimum 3 years hands-on experience with Spring technologies, including Spring Boot (Spring Cloud experience preferred)
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work pragmatically across business and technical domains
• Bonus: experience leveraging AI coding assistants to improve quality and efficiency
