Senior Maintenance Operations Manager(m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential logistics organization operating a state-of-the-art automated fulfillment operation near Berlin. As Senior Maintenance Operations Manager, you will take ownership of material handling systems and help build the internal maintenance function at this new hybrid facility.

You will serve as the central interface between automated and manual processes, operational teams, and your maintenance team of technicians and engineers, ensuring stable operations, efficient troubleshooting, and continuous optimization of equipment systems.

• Team Leadership: Build and lead your team of technicians and engineers, managing day-to-day operations while developing team members both technically and professionally
• Operational Interface: Work closely with operational teams in the hybrid fulfillment center to ensure automated and manual processes integrate seamlessly
• Data-Driven Improvement: Collaborate with analysts to develop maintenance strategy with the goal of minimizing downtime, optimizing preventive maintenance, and making data-based decisions
• Contract & Performance Management: Oversee contracts, performance metrics, and budgets, including management of external partners
• Problem Resolution & Prevention: Analyze major disruptions, identify root causes, and develop sustainable solutions. Plan inspections and preventive maintenance based on guidelines and system data
• Build Scalable Structures: Support the development of a scalable maintenance organization and advise colleagues at other locations as they establish new maintenance teams

What We're Looking For

• Completed technical apprenticeship, master craftsman or technician certification, and/or Bachelor's/Master's degree in a technical field such as mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, mechatronics, or automation
• 8+ years of professional experience in a maintenance-related environment or technical project experience in intralogistics (e.g., conveyor systems, AGVs, robotics)
• 3-4 years of team leadership experience; strong ability to motivate and unite a team
• Strong analytical skills with ability to quickly interpret numerical information and identify problems before they occur
• Hands-on mentality with proven ability to turn ideas into successful projects while leading by example
• Fluent German and very strong English language skills
