As a Senior Software Engineer (RoR), you'll architect and build scalable server-side applications using Ruby on Rails while leading technical initiatives across our platform. You'll design solutions for complex problems, establish coding standards, and elevate the engineering practices of our San José-based development team. This remote role offers the flexibility to work from your location while staying deeply connected to meaningful, production-grade work.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement robust backend features and APIs using Ruby on Rails, with a focus on performance and maintainability
• Review code from peer engineers, providing constructive feedback and sharing best practices
• Collaborate with product and design teams to translate requirements into technical architecture
• Optimize database queries and application performance to support growing user bases
• Contribute to on-call rotations and participate in incident response when needed
• Mentor junior developers and help shape the technical culture of our engineering organization

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3+ years working with Ruby on Rails
• Strong foundation in SQL, relational databases, and data modeling
• Experience building and maintaining production systems at scale
• Proficiency with version control, testing frameworks, and deployment practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make pragmatic technical decisions
