About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential economic consulting firm seeking a Senior Associate to join their European Competition practice in Düsseldorf or Munich. Our client provides economic, financial, and business management expertise on competition policy matters, merger control proceedings, cartel investigations, and regulatory disputes across Europe.
This is an entry-level position for candidates with a PhD in Economics and limited work experience, or for those with a Master's in Economics and at least 3 years of relevant experience in economic consulting or with a competition authority. You will work on high-profile competition cases throughout Europe, collaborating closely with senior consultants and industry experts while taking on genuine responsibility from day one.
Responsibilities
- Conduct economic analyses and collect evidence from data and research to support expert opinions and business recommendations
- Perform regression analyses using statistical programs such as Stata, Python, or R, including large-scale data projects requiring cloud computing
- Build tailored economic models that support expert opinions and client recommendations
- Contribute to the development and presentation of client deliverables, including expert reports and white papers
- Communicate complex economic concepts and arguments to non-experts in an accessible, understandable manner
- Manage and mentor junior staff members
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all analyses and expert opinions
- Participate in practice-building activities including training, recruiting, publications, and expertise sharing
What We're Looking For
- PhD in Economics from a well-regarded institution with strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably specializing in industrial economics and/or econometrics; OR Master's in Economics with at least 3 years of relevant work experience in economic consulting or with a competition authority
- Fluency in English required; additional language skills are an asset
- High degree of numeracy with ability to analyze data and familiarity with econometric techniques
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities
- Excellent time management and task prioritization skills
- Clear demonstrated interest in economic consulting through coursework, work experience, or activities
