Machine Shop Supervisor

Smiths Group is seeking a full-time Machine Shop Supervisor to oversee daily operations and lead production teams at our Pasadena, Texas facility. In this hands-on leadership role, you'll combine technical expertise with team management to drive precision manufacturing excellence.

The Opportunity

As Machine Shop Supervisor, you'll take ownership of shop floor operations where quality, safety, and efficiency directly impact our customers. You'll lead a team of skilled machinists and machine operators, ensuring production schedules are met while maintaining the highest standards for precision work. This position bridges frontline manufacturing with management, giving you the chance to develop team members while solving real production challenges every day.

Your Responsibilities

• Supervise and schedule daily activities of machine shop personnel
• Monitor production output, quality, and adherence to specifications
• Conduct equipment maintenance planning and coordinate preventive care
• Enforce safety protocols and workplace compliance standards
• Train and mentor machinists on techniques and company procedures
• Identify process improvements and implement workflow optimizations
• Track KPIs, report metrics, and escalate production concerns
• Manage inventory of tools, materials, and supplies

Who We're Looking For

• Proven supervisory or lead role experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment
• Strong technical knowledge of CNC and conventional machining processes
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop team members
• Solid understanding of quality control, inspection, and tolerances
• Commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance
• Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in manufacturing or related field preferred
