Medical Assistant-Primary Care Full Time Days

Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is seeking a Medical Assistant for our Primary Care team in Chicago, Illinois. This full-time, daytime position puts you at the center of patient care, supporting our physicians and clinical staff in delivering primary care services to our diverse Chicago-area patient community.

About the Role

As a Medical Assistant in Primary Care at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, you will be an essential part of our clinical team. You'll work standard daytime hours in a fast-paced primary care environment where your clinical skills and patient care abilities directly contribute to the quality of care our patients receive. This full-time role combines front office functions with back office clinical responsibilities, allowing you to develop expertise across the entire primary care practice workflow.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and record patient vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration
• Conduct initial patient interviews and document medical histories in our electronic health record system
• Prepare examination rooms and patients for physician consultations
• Assist physicians with clinical examinations and minor office procedures
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens for laboratory analysis
• Maintain accurate, organized patient charts and medical documentation
• Manage appointment scheduling, patient check-in, and administrative front-desk duties
• Provide patient education on treatment protocols and post-visit care instructions
• Uphold strict infection control and HIPAA compliance standards

What We're Looking For

• Formal Medical Assistant certification or equivalent clinical training
• Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical best practices
• Phlebotomy certification or demonstrated bloodwork experience
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with patients from varied backgrounds
• Strong organizational skills and capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Precision and accountability in patient documentation and data entry
• Professional, reliable presence with excellent attendance
