Software Engineer in Hardware Infrastructure

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure organization seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Hardware Automation team in the Netherlands. This is a unique opportunity to work on internal platforms and tooling that power large-scale data center operations, eliminating manual processes and providing real-time infrastructure control.

Our client operates as a product engineering team embedded within hardware infrastructure, meaning you'll own the full stack from requirements gathering through design, build, rollout, and ongoing reliability. This is hands-on engineering work at significant scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop services that automate operations across a large server fleet
• Manage large-scale projects involving multiple stakeholders across data center operations and hardware engineering
• Break down complex technical tasks and provide technical guidance to junior colleagues
• Write high-quality, reference-level code in specific technology domains
• Contribute to architectural thinking and system design decisions
• Assess task priority and focus engineering efforts on high-impact work
• Participate in hiring processes and conduct technical interviews
• Share knowledge and mentor other engineers on the team

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Excellent knowledge of Python or Golang, or readiness to quickly adopt these languages
• Proven ability to write reliable code and debug complex distributed systems
• Strong interest in DevOps processes and automation
• Working proficiency in English
• Experience managing projects across multiple teams and stakeholders
• Strong architectural thinking and system design capabilities

Bonus qualifications:

• Solid understanding of modern server architecture and hardware components
• Strong knowledge of computer networks
• Experience designing, developing, and operating high-load distributed systems
