About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential biopharmaceutical organization in their search for a Senior Director, Rare Blood Disorders Patient Support Services Field Access. This is a remote, field-based position with second-line leadership responsibilities overseeing Field Reimbursement Directors and their teams supporting hemophilia and rare hematology programs.
Our client is a research-driven organization focused on breakthrough treatments for patients with rare diseases, immune conditions, and other therapeutic areas with high unmet needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Field Reimbursement Directors who oversee Field Reimbursement Managers supporting hemophilia and rare hematology business units
- Serve as second-line leader responsible for team development, strategy execution, and business plan initiatives
- Manage and resolve daily operational objectives and issues affecting Field Reimbursement scope of work; escalate when necessary
- Guide Field Reimbursement Directors in developing account business plans and account-specific strategies to optimize performance
- Build subject matter expertise across the team in patient support, access, reimbursement, prior authorizations, appeals, and financial assistance programs
- Spend time in the field coaching and developing Field Reimbursement Directors and Managers, providing support with issue resolution and feedback
- Plan, design, and implement territory alignments to support overall performance objectives
- Establish strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across customer segments
- Partner cross-functionally with franchise colleagues to create a culture of respect and customer focus
- Lead development and implementation of reimbursement programs and tools that strengthen support services and align with brand initiatives
- Maintain knowledge of reimbursement and coverage issues; communicate effectively with patient service teams, sales management, policy, government affairs, market access, and brand teams
- Attract, develop, and retain top talent using innovative recognition approaches and minimizing regrettable attrition
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree
- 8-10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry with access experience
- 3+ years of prior experience managing a team of Field Reimbursement Managers
- Valid driver's license
- Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Significant experience and understanding of the payer landscape and its impact on access
- Demonstrated success working in matrix environments across sales, market access, customer service, patient services, medical affairs, and marketing
- Ability to quickly assemble and develop high-performing teams
- Commitment to maintaining compliance with regulatory, legal, and operational requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Rare disease experience strongly preferred
- Energetic, driven, dynamic leadership style
Travel Requirements:
- 25-50% travel
- Ability to travel to meetings, trainings, and programs as necessary
