Medical Doctor with SNOMED Coding Experience (UK)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare technology client in the United Kingdom. They are seeking GMC-registered medical doctors with SNOMED CT coding experience to support a flexible, remote annotation project focused on clinical documentation.

This short-term engagement involves reviewing de-identified clinical records and applying standardised medical terminology codes to support the development of clinical AI systems. You will work asynchronously on a secure annotation platform, applying your clinical judgment and coding expertise to discharge summaries, laboratory results, and progress notes.

Responsibilities

• Review and code de-identified clinical documentation using SNOMED CT terminology on a dedicated digital platform
• Identify clinically relevant concepts across discharge summaries, lab results, and clinical notes, mapping them accurately to standardised codes
• Apply detailed coding guidelines consistently, covering hierarchy scope, negation handling, medication coding, and compound concept assignment
• Flag ambiguous or complex cases with clinical rationale to support guideline refinement
• Participate in adjudication and consensus rounds to resolve coding disagreements and ensure quality

What We're Looking For

• GMC registration and current right to work in the United Kingdom
• Minimum 1–2 years of post-qualification clinical practice
• Demonstrated experience with SNOMED CT coding or clinical terminology systems
• Strong understanding of clinical documentation standards and coding conventions
• Exceptional attention to detail and consistency in clinical review or coding work
• Comfortable using structured annotation tools and digital platforms
• Native or near-native written English proficiency
• Able to work as an independent contractor
