Sous Chef

Join Greene King as a Sous Chef at our Clerkenwell, Greater London location, where you'll lead kitchen operations and help maintain the high standards our guests expect. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to develop your culinary leadership in one of the UK's most established hospitality groups.

Role Overview

As Sous Chef, you'll support the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring consistent food quality and safety standards. Working within Greene King's kitchens, you'll play a key role in delivering authentic, well-executed dishes that meet our brand's reputation across the Greater London area and beyond.

Core Duties

• Oversee food preparation, cooking, and plating to Greene King's established standards
• Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff, fostering a positive and efficient working environment
• Monitor portion control, stock levels, and ingredient quality to maintain profitability and food safety
• Support menu development and adapt recipes based on seasonal availability and customer feedback
• Maintain strict hygiene and health and safety compliance across all kitchen operations
• Work collaboratively with front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service delivery
• Manage kitchen equipment maintenance and assist with ordering supplies as needed

Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience working as a Sous Chef or equivalent senior kitchen role
• Strong culinary knowledge and technical cooking skills across multiple cuisines
• Excellent leadership and communication abilities with the capacity to motivate teams
• Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene regulations, and health and safety standards
• Ability to work under pressure during busy service periods
• Physical fitness and stamina for a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 or above in Food Preparation and Cooking are valued
