Senior Security Engineer (AI & Automation)

Flywire is seeking a Senior Security Engineer (AI & Automation) to join our Adelaide, SA, AU team. This full-time remote position is based within our Site Reliability and Engineering division, where you'll drive security excellence across our infrastructure and automation initiatives.

Role Overview

We're looking for an accomplished security engineer to strengthen security across our platform's reliability and automation infrastructure. In this role, you'll design and implement security controls that protect systems whilst enabling secure automation and deployment at scale. Your combination of security expertise and understanding of AI and automation technologies will be essential as you architect solutions that prevent vulnerabilities, detect threats, and respond to incidents across our infrastructure and automated workflows.

Your Responsibilities

• Architect security solutions for automation frameworks and AI-driven systems, ensuring resilience and threat detection across infrastructure
• Build and maintain security automation that enables rapid, secure deployment whilst maintaining strong controls
• Perform threat modelling and security assessments of automation and AI initiatives to identify and mitigate risks
• Partner with engineering and operations teams to embed security practices into deployment pipelines and operational procedures
• Lead incident response activities for security issues affecting automated systems, analyse root causes, and implement preventive measures
• Advance the organisation's security posture through documentation, guidance, and team enablement

What You Bring

• 5+ years of hands-on security engineering experience, particularly in infrastructure or platform security
• Knowledge of AI and ML security risks, including model safety, data integrity, and automated decision-making vulnerabilities
• Expertise in security automation, CI/CD security, and Infrastructure-as-Code approaches
• Proficiency with cloud platforms and containerised deployment environments
• Demonstrated ability to design security monitoring, logging, and incident response programmes
• Strong communication skills and talent for explaining security concepts to diverse technical and non-technical audiences
