About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential AWS modernization and cloud migration firm that specializes in moving enterprise workloads from on-premises infrastructure to cloud-native environments. Our client works with organizations that need to retire legacy systems—dedicated hardware, manual deployments, and enterprise databases—and transition to modern, automated AWS infrastructure on committed timelines.
This is an associate-level DevOps engineering role within their Application & Database Modernization practice. You'll be part of a forward-deployed team that delivers real production migrations, building the automation, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring infrastructure that makes each cutover safe and repeatable. This is client-facing engineering work where you'll set expectations, deliver on them, and see your infrastructure carry live traffic.
Responsibilities
- Deliver application and database migration projects from on-premises to AWS, including RDBMS, NoSQL, data warehouse, and big data workloads
- Automate operational and server provisioning workflows using AWS CloudFormation and Infrastructure as Code practices
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and related tooling
- Improve operations infrastructure including build systems, version control platforms, and monitoring tools like Grafana and Consul
- Provide operational support for engineering teams and establish monitoring for automated system health checks
- Share responsibility for deploying releases and running operations maintenance during scheduled windows
- Train and guide team members in DevOps best practices and automation disciplines
- Help retire legacy infrastructure by migrating remaining dedicated hardware to cloud environments
What We're Looking For
Required qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code
- 2+ years of configuration management and engineering for large-scale environments, ideally supporting Agile development processes
- 2+ years of Linux administration experience
- Deep understanding of version control systems (git), including branching and merging strategies
- Hands-on experience with AWS services: EC2, ECS, RDS, CloudFormation, CloudWatch
- Experience with cloud automation tools such as Ansible or Chef
- Familiarity with software build tools (Maven, Gradle) and continuous integration tools (Jenkins)
- Production support experience with Java-based applications (must-have)
- Proficiency with Linux environments and scripting languages: bash, Python, Groovy
- Comfort working late evening hours when patching and maintenance windows typically occur
- A proactive mindset for identifying reliability improvements and the follow-through to implement them
Preferred qualifications:
- AWS DevOps Professional or AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification
- Experience supporting Node.js applications in production
- Knowledge of service discovery tools such as Consul
